Training studies
Beyond a plain PGN folder: each study can be built in training mode, where the student must find the right move in the variation tree instead of only reading it. Chapters, sub-variations, annotations, Masters database and built-in Stockfish analysis: the student trains in the same space where the coach prepares the content.
Recordings synced to the board
During the session, a note button lets you place a marker at any moment in the recording, with the comment of your choice. Once the video is available in the student’s replays, those notes appear right beside it: they click one and the video jumps straight to that moment, with no scrubbing through the recording.
Live import and save as study
During a live session, instantly import a study, chapter, exercise, prepared position or a student’s game onto the shared board without leaving the room. Everything played and explored in the session, including variations, can be saved as a full study in one click, ready to reuse or assign.
Assign exercises in one click
Any position becomes homework immediately: a study chapter, a student’s game or a moment captured live can be turned into an exercise and assigned to one student or a whole group, with grading, scoring and tracking centralized in the same place.

Do I have to pay to try it?
No. The Free plan covers up to 2 linked students with no credit card. You only move to a paid plan when you add more students.
Do my students pay anything?
Never. Students get free accounts; only the coach or the organization subscribes.
Can I bring my own PGN files and positions?
Yes. Import a PGN or a whole folder, build exercises from any position or screenshot, and let students send their own games.
Does it work for a club or a school with several coaches?
Yes. Courses, groups and calendars are shared, and each coach keeps their own students, exercises and sessions.
Can I cancel whenever I want?
Yes. Subscriptions are managed from the secure customer portal, and you can cancel at any time.
Which languages are available?
The whole platform is available in English, French, Russian, Spanish, German, Italian, and Breton. Switch anytime.
Can I import from Chess.com, Lichess or my own PGN files?
Yes. Import PGN files or folders into studies, build exercises from any position or screenshot, and let students send tournament games, including from the platforms they already use.
How do you protect data for underage students?
Student accounts are managed by the coach or a legal guardian. We collect only what the service needs, and the Young users page explains the rules. Students never pay and never need a merchant account.

As a FIDE Master and chess coach, I built CoachBoard because I know where coaches really lose time: not just opening Zoom or Lichess, but building exercises, filing work away, and reconnecting each session to the next. CoachBoard brings everything into one workspace, and automates many of the repetitive tasks: organizing student work, importing studies, creating exercises, tracking progress, managing lessons and more. The goal is simple: save coaches hours every week, so they can spend less time managing their workflow and more time coaching chess.
